Tamarind Village offers half and full day excursions to some of Chiang Mai’s most interesting sites. Experience northern Thailand’s vibrant culture firsthand with visits to lively local markets, Buddhist temples and rural villages or spend the day out in nature exploring the area’s scenic national parks, waterfalls and gardens. Other sought after activities include elephant experiences, jungle treks, rock climbing and river rafting. Those interested in traditional crafts can spend the day visiting artisan studios or enjoy the very best shopping that Chiang Mai has to offer.
We also arrange trips further afield to the ancient cities of Lamphun and Lampang as well as a full day excursion to Chiang Rai, Chiang Saen, The Golden Triangle and the Burmese border town of Tachilek. The old mountain stronghold of the Chinese Kuomintang at Doi Mae Salong is popular for its cool temperatures and tea plantations as are the royal projects at Doi Angkhang and Doi Tung. Many visitors to the north use Chiang Mai as a base from which to explore more remote areas and as a starting and finishing point for two and three night treks to hill tribe villages. Mae Hong Son and Pai, located in the mountainous area to the northwest of Chiang Mai are well-known for their laid back atmosphere and rich mix of ethnic groups.
Tours are designed with quality in mind and are perfect for those looking to gain insight into the local culture. Comfortable air-conditioned vans, professional drivers and personable guides enhance your experience and guarantee peace of mind. Private and join-in experiences are available (a minimum number of guests are required for join in trips).
Tamarind Village Chiang Mai also offers a number of complimentary hotel-based activities including flower garland making, umbrella painting, bamboo waving, Banana & Lotus Leaf Folding, Spa Herbal Compress Making and Tung ‘Flag’ Making.
